Women of Mosquito Joe: Gail Yongue

If there is one thing we’ve learned it’s that there are many misconceptions about women in the pest control industry! So while we could write a blog post about why women are a good fit for Mosquito Joe, we thought there were a few people who could do a better job. In our blog series the Women of Mosquito Joe, we highlight the incredible women that are a part of the MoJo family and why it is no longer a man’s world!

This month we chatted with Gail Yongue of Mosquito Joe of Gulf Coast Alabama.  While her husband Jim helps with the business, Gail is the one running the day-to-day operations and making sure all the customers are swat free and enjoying that Alabama sunshine.  Since Gail used to work in the healthcare industry as a hospice nurse, taking care of people is natural to her, and she’s amazing at what she does!

Chatting with Gail

What motivated you to get involved with Mosquito Joe?

Gail: I’ve always wanted to own a business so I could pave my own way. Mosquito Joe was a good fit for our lifestyle and my background. And who doesn’t want to get rid of mosquitoes?!

How would you describe the Mosquito Joe community?

Gail: I thought leaving hospice would be hard because I would miss a connection with others and the feeling of helping people. However, there are many customers with whom I feel a connection and who are so happy as we have changed their lives. I have also enjoyed feeling a community among the franchisees whom I have made connections with – between them and corporate you have a constant “phone a friend” to help with aspects of the business when you need more guidance or just a listening ear.

Why is Mosquito Joe a good business fit for women?

Gail: Wives and mothers want their backyard to be a place to make memories, memories that don’t include being bitten and having their children crying. Being a woman-owned business allows you to connect and empathize in a personal way with the women of the families.

Who is your inspiration and why?

Gail: I have a few, but Rob Dyrdek is high on my list and one person I would love to meet. I’d love to learn a thing or two about business from him. Unless you are around my age or are into skateboarding you might not know who he is.  But the reason I like him is that he’s self made and enjoys life while pursuing his dreams, all while creating stuff for the rest of us to enjoy.  Oh, and he cares about community and people!

Thanks Gail!

We’re so proud Gail is a part of the Mosquito Joe family.
