Mosquito Joe Named 2017 Top Low Cost Franchise

Franchisees Are Highly Satisfied with Mosquito Joe’s Performance

Mosquito Joe was identified by independent franchisee satisfaction research firm, Franchise Business Review, as being one of only 80 franchises to qualify for its Top Low-Cost Franchises list. Brands on the list had to have a high franchisee satisfaction rating and an investment of under $100,000 at the time their franchisees participated in Franchise Business Review’s franchisee satisfaction survey.

Top Low Cost Franchise Mosquito JoeMosquito Joe’s franchisees were surveyed on 33 benchmark questions about their experience and satisfaction regarding critical areas of the franchise systems, including training & support, operations, franchisor/franchisee relations, and financial opportunity. Approximately 13,000 franchisees representing 123 low-cost brands participated in Franchise Business Review’s low-cost franchisee satisfaction survey between October 2015 and April 2017.

“Our flexible, recurring revenue business model allows us to attract entrepreneurial-minded operators who are looking for an option outside of a brick and mortar business that they can run seasonally,” Kevin Wilson, CEO of Mosquito Joe said. “Not only is the mosquito control industry booming, providing a faster ROI after a low initial investment, but our operators can also feel good about the work that they’re doing for the communities that they serve.”

“Mosquito Joe’s level of satisfaction in areas that are crucial to the health of a franchise system earned it a spot on our 2017 Top Low-Cost franchises list,” says Eric Stites, CEO of Franchise Business Review. “With 90% of the 13,000 low-cost franchisees we surveyed saying they enjoy operating their business, low-cost franchises are clearly a great option for many who wish to be their own boss.”

The 80 brands that made the 2017 Top Low-Cost franchises list did so as a result of their having high franchisee satisfaction. Visit FranchiseBusinessReview.com to see the full list of 2017 Top Low-Cost Franchises and check out Mosquito Joe’s Franchise Business Review Profile here.

Mosquito Joe’s Parent Company Named One of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces

2017 has proven to be a groundbreaking year for Mosquito Joe. Not only has our franchise system grown tremendously over the past four years, but the Corporate team supporting that system has grown as well and is now gaining national attention for its accomplishments. We are thrilled to announce that Mosquito Joe’s parent company, Buzz Franchise Brands, has been named one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2017. This ranking identifies the top companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits. Out of thousands of applicants, Buzz Franchise Brands was listed as one of the top 50 of just over 200 distinguished companies to be recognized.

Buzz Franchise Brands

Since its founding in 2012, Buzz Franchise Brands has ensured that the office is a place where its team wants to come to work and enjoys days spent with others on the team. Brand leaders emphasize the importance of relying on each employee’s unique strengths to contribute to the company’s overall vision. In four short years, the brand has grown from an office of five people to over thirty and from one corporate location to 235 franchise locations open across 32 states, with another 60 under development.

Inc.’s Best Workplaces Award

What does it take to become a company that workers want to be part of? Inc. Magazine says it’s more than good pay and good perks – it’s also about having a clear purpose, a sense of humor, and leadership that makes the two work together.

“We are honored to be included on the list of Inc. Magazine’s Best Places to Work. Our employees are the cornerstone of our culture and we strive to maintain an environment that attracts top talent,” said Buzz Franchise Brands CEO Kevin Wilson. “By keeping the creative juices flowing throughout our office’s open floor plan and establishing meaningful relationships that branch from our corporate team to our franchisees and their customers, we are proud to know that we are continuing to move in the right direction.”

The 2017 Inc. Best Workplaces Awards assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a unique, 30-question survey fielded by each of the applying companies. Responses were evaluated by the research team at Quantum Workplace. For its results to qualify, each company had to achieve a statistically significant response rate based on employee count. Survey scores account for employer size to level the playing field between small and large businesses. All companies had to have a minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent – that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.

“By introducing an employee survey into this year’s Best Workplaces selection process, we’ve really raised the bar. Companies that don’t score at the very top of their peer group don’t make the cut. So, our hats are off to the winners. They all excelled at engaging their workers, making them feel appreciated, and aligning them behind a mission. And remember, that’s not just our opinion: The employees told us that themselves,” says Eric Schurenberg, Inc.’s President and Editor in Chief.

Aside from this most recent recognition, Mosquito Joe has received a number of accolades in 2017 including a coveted ranking on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list, Top 200 Franchises of 2017 by Franchise Business Review and the top spot on Franchise Gator’s list of the New Year’s Fastest Growing Franchises.

We want to thank our leadership team for having the vision and drive to create our award-winning work environment; our Corporate staff for dedication not only to their work but to continual success of our company; and our franchisees who are the cornerstone of our success and the reason we come to work every day!

Mosquito Joe Named Fastest Growing Franchise for 2017

Franchise Gator named Mosquito Joe a Fastest Growing Franchise for 2017 in conjunction with the release of its annual Top 100 list. The online franchise directory developed the rankings to help prospective franchisees identify top opportunities with strong growth potential that are also affordable investments for the average franchise buyer.

For 2017, Franchise Gator selected 50 Top Emerging concepts and 100 Fastest Growing concepts. Top Emerging franchises are identified as rising concepts with 60 or fewer units. Fastest Growing franchises are those experiencing rapid expansion heading into the new year. The Top 100 list was created to identify franchise opportunities with strong growth potential but that are also more affordable investments to help the typical franchise buyer discover promising brands they might not have otherwise found. “This year we identified 100 franchise opportunities for the Fastest Growing category,” said Eric Bell, General Manager of Franchise Gator. “In addition to their track record for building a solid customer base and gaining the trust of investors, the opportunities were selected based on the number of opening and operating units the franchise has had over the past several months.”

Mosquito Joe CEO, Kevin Wilson, added, “We’re going to continue to expand into new markets and increase our footprint. There’s no doubt that 2017 is going to be another strong year for us, from both a development and educational perspective. We’re excited to grow into new territories this year, and ultimately take the Mosquito Joe brand to the next level.”

Mosquito Joe Ranks 26th on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500

We got some great news this week that has 2017 off to a fantastic start. We are thrilled to announce that Mosquito Joe ranks #26 overall AND #1 in the Pest Control category on Entrepreneur’s 2017 Franchise 500! The Franchise 500 is the “first, best, and most comprehensive franchise ranking in the world,” and we are grateful and honored to be recognized so highly among such a distinguished group of businesses.

So, how is the Franchise 500 ranking created? Back in July of 2016, Entrepreneur reached out to franchisors across the country and asked each to fill out an online form and submit their Franchise Disclosure Document. After receiving 988 submissions, Entrepreneur’s editorial team began reviewing each one for certain data points. The franchisors were scored based on more than 150 of these points, and the 500 companies with the highest overall score were ranked as the Franchise 500.

Entrepreneur uses a formula of certain factors to determine the ranking: The Five Pillars of the Franchise 500. These Five Pillars include Costs & Fees, Size & Growth, Support, Brand Strength, and Financial Strength & Stability. Within those pillars are more specific factors such as growth rate, total investment, and financing availability. Throughout the 38 years of the Franchise 500’s existence, Entrepreneur has modified these factors to reflect what is most important to the franchising world at that time. For example, social media presence has become a factor as it gains increasing marketing importance. All companies, regardless of size, are judged by the same criteria to make the final ranking as objective as possible.

2016 was an amazing year for Mosquito Joe. We grew from 113 territories open and 220 territories sold in 2015 to 171 territories open and 278 sold in 2016. Our 127 franchise owners are the heart of our business and help fuel our success each and every day. But we’re just getting started! CEO Kevin Wilson says, “We’re going to continue to expand into new markets and increase our footprint. There’s no doubt that 2017 is going to be another strong year for us, from both a development and educational perspective. We’re excited to grow into new territories this year, and ultimately take the Mosquito Joe brand to the next level.”

A huge thank you to our franchise partners across the country for making Mosquito Joe such an incredible company. Their engagement and enthusiasm for the business make honors like this possible. Another thank you to the Mosquito Joe Corporate staff for providing world-class support that makes our franchisees’ success possible.

Mosquito Joe Makes Inc 5000 List

Mosquito Joe sold its first franchise in early 2013 and ever since, it’s been charging forward full throttle. We now have 169 territories open across 27 states. All that growth in just four years has definitely made the time fly for us. We have been very busy hosting prospective franchisees, training new franchisees, and supporting our Mosquito Joe locations as they launch and grow their businesses. As busy as we’ve been, in the middle of what we like to call “happy chaos,” it is easy for us to forget to take a step back and acknowledge the progress and milestones we’re reaching along the way.

That said, recently we ran face-first into a really exciting accomplishment that made us step back and really be proud of our company’s growth and success in our first year of franchising. Last week it was announced that Mosquito Joe made the 128 spot in Inc. 5000’s list of Fastest Growing Private Companies in America. That’s right, we made the top 3% of the list and we couldn’t be more proud!

“The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “It honors real achievement by a founder or a team of them. No one makes the Inc. 5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails.”

The average company on the list achieved a mind-boggling three-year growth of 433%. The companies on the list collectively generated 640,000 jobs over the past three years, or about 8% of all jobs created in the entire economy during that period – a statistic in which we’re proud to be included.

Head Joe and CEO Kevin Wilson said “There’s no doubt that this is going to be another strong year for us, from both a development and educational perspective. We’re excited to grow into new territories this year, and ultimately take the Mosquito Joe brand to the next level.”

While we know in our hearts that this opportunity is a great one and that mosquito control is so important, to be recognized by Inc. was a big moment for Mosquito Joe. Thank you to all of our customers and franchisees who make this the amazing company it is, and of course our stellar corporate team as well (we’re not above tooting our own horn).

If you’re reading this and are curious about the opportunity, start exploring. If you think mosquito control is something you can’t do, you should know you don’t need pest control experience to get started. In fact, most of our franchisees don’t have any pest control experience or even small business experience. That’s part of what’s so great about our franchise system – we provide all the training and systems for you! So think about us. We’ll be here…and growing.

Entrepreneur Names Mosquito Joe Top New Franchise

Entrepreneur Top New FranchiseEvery year, Entrepreneur announces a list of franchisors who started franchising within the past five years based on objective, quantifiable criteria, including financial strength and stability, growth rate and system size. Franchisors on this list do all that while helpings other start their own businesses and achieve goals. Pretty amazing, right? We thought so, too. That’s why we’re incredibly honored to be named in Entrepreneur’s 2016 Top New Franchises. There are 75 business opportunities on the list, and we’re excited to be number 28.

Growth has been quick the past three years of franchising, thanks to the simple business model and excellent franchisees. This year Mosquito Joe will be servicing 55 new territories to reach a total of 112 by year end. When we started, our vision was to make Mosquito Joe a household name across the nation and that remains the goal even as we signed a deal in our 26th state. We’re so excited to see what our franchisees are going to be doing in their communities this year, and grateful for the opportunity to step back and be proud of all the hard work thanks to Entrepreneur Magazine!

This kind of award and recognition is a big win for everyone. For those of you who are shopping for a franchise opportunity and are digging into Mosquito Joe in detail, this is great third party validation. Financial strength and stability are cornerstones of this list, as they are your list when looking at business opportunities, so hearing an organization as reputable as Entrepreneur rank us among the top new franchises based on that is gratifying.  It’s also a direct reflection of the hard working franchisees in our system, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. While our growth rate and system size has been an incredible ride the past few years, we work hard to bring the right Joe into your neighborhoods to make them more enjoyable and safer places for your kids to play. This ranking is a huge honor and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come in 2016.

If you’re interested in learning more about our brand and the business opportunity, check out the Mosquito Joe franchise website for details and information.  No pest control experience is required, and you can be part of one of the “most promising business opportunities.”

Mosquito Joe Makes List of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Fastest Growing Franchises

As we’ve said again and again on this blog, Mosquito Joe has experienced amazing growth as a franchise within the last couple of years.  Just four years ago, we were a small mosquito control business with one location in Virginia.  At the end of 2015, we had 113 territories open in 26 states with dozens of franchise owners.  It’s easy for us to brag about our accomplishments, but it means a bit more when one of the nation’s leading business magazines recognizes them as well.  We are very excited to be on Entrepreneur Magazine’s list of Fastest Growing Franchises in 2016!

The list ranks 105 companies around the country from a variety of industries that are making a name in the franchise game.  Mosquito Joe placed 40th on the list, accompanied by big-name brands like Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Supercuts, Rooter-Man, and many more.  Entrepreneur spoke with the CEOs and managers of the franchises ranked to find out their secret to success.  Across the board, franchises with a sustainable growth rate invest a lot of time into people; their franchise owners, staff, and customers.  Building a great network of people around a business is the key: “Take care of people, and the numbers take care of themselves.”

Franchising continues to be a huge industry in the U.S..  According to the Franchise Business Economic Outlook 2016, the number of franchise establishments is expected to grow by over 13,000 this year, bringing the national total to 795,932.  20,000 new jobs were created in the U.S. franchise industry last month alone, a great start to the report’s projections of 278,000 new franchise jobs by year’s end.  Amazingly, the franchise industry is expected to grow another 5.6% in 2016, adding $29 billion to the U.S. economy.

The franchise model offers aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to own their own business without the stress and risk of doing so alone.  The Mosquito Joe franchise model, for example, includes extensive training and ongoing support for each franchise owner to give everyone the best chance for success.

If you’re interested in learning more about franchising, check out the Mosquito Joe franchise website for details and information.  No pest control experience is required, and you can be part of the team helping make outside fun again for people across the country!

Mosquito Joe Makes List of Top Franchises for Veterans

2015 has been the best year yet for Mosquito Joe.  Our tremendous growth and increased success have made us a leading franchise name in the pest control industry.  Although the year isn’t quite over, we’re finishing it with a bang!

We are very excited to announce that Mosquito Joe has made Franchise Business Review‘s annual list of Top Franchises for Veterans.  This is the only list based on data from actual veterans.  The review analyzed survey data from over 3,000 veteran franchise owners from 285 various franchises.

Mosquito Joe Veteran Franchisee“Many franchises entice veterans to invest via special incentives and discounts, but what really matters is what happens after they buy a franchise. The franchises featured in our Top Franchises For Veterans report have earned the seal of approval from the veterans who own them,” says Michelle Rowan, President of Franchise Business Review.

One in seven franchises – more than 66,000 – in the U.S. is owned by a veteran, according to VetFran, a program founded to provide access and opportunities in franchising to veterans and their spouses.  Mosquito Joe provides an established corporate structure that many veterans appreciate after working within a system like the military.  There is also plenty of opportunity for leadership while also working with a team.

“Those with a military background tend to transition well into franchising because they have excellent experience in operations and working within a system to follow and execute a plan for success,” says Angela Zerda, Director of Marketing for Mosquito Joe, “The drive and dedication it takes to run a business comes quite naturally for veterans.”

Having multiple military connections in the MoJo Corporate office as well as numerous veteran franchisees gives this recognition even more meaning.  Making Franchise Business Review’s Top Franchises For Veterans list shows that we have earned the respect of our veteran franchisees.  Mosquito Joe offers a discount for veterans in the form of $2,500 off the $25,000 initial franchise fee.  Interested in learning more about this franchise opportunity?  Visit our Mosquito Joe franchise page for more information.

Franchisee Training

This week we are very excited to welcome our first group of 2016 franchisees to Mosquito Joe Headquarters for new franchisee training!  While many assume that things slow down for us after our corporate-owned Virginia Beach Mosquito Joe location wraps up service for the year, that’s not actually the case.  We are constantly working to serve and educate our franchisees (new and existing), so they can develop a strong business, and this week we’re opening the doors of MoJo University for another year.  No rest for the weary!

Some of you might be wondering, what is MoJo University?

Part of what sets Mosquito Joe apart as a franchise is its system of ongoing training and support.  MoJo University is a comprehensive, four-day training program at the corporate office in Virginia Beach, Virginia that all new franchise owners must attend and complete before opening for business.  This week launches the first training session for 2016 franchise openings. The course is designed to educate franchisees in all aspects of Mosquito Joe including operations and equipment, customer service, financial planning, and marketing.  Since no previous pest control experience is necessary to own a Mosquito Joe franchise, this training is crucial to getting new locations up and running. It’s just the beginning of the amazing support Mosquito Joe Corporate offers franchisees from day one.

Chris Whiteside, a new franchise owner from Newtown, Pennsylvania says, “I’m looking forward to my week of training, so I can begin to focus on the details around our business. Through the purchasing process, I knew I wanted a seasonal business, and the uniqueness of the brand and the untapped market in my area led me to Mosquito Joe. As I begin the process, I continue to be confident in our location and look forward to the experience.”

Joining Chris at training this week are Rachael Mann from Highland Park, Illinois, Whitney Mastropierro from Westhampton, New York, Steve Brock from Summerfield, North Carolina, and David and Dale Maginness from Overland Park, Kansas.  David Maginness opened his location, Mosquito Joe of East Johnson County, in 2015 but is coming through MoJo University again for a refresher with a year of service under his belt. This time he’s bringing his father, who is one of his technicians, to increase his skill-set as well.

MoJo University training sessions are also a great time for new franchisees to get to know our stellar corporate team and get all their questions answered about running a mosquito control business.  We’re excited to kick off this next year of training. If you’re interested in learning more about our training and support, please contact a franchise development representative at franchising@mosquitojoe.com.
